Benjamin
WOW!!! It’s hard to believe that Ben is 6 months old. He’s sitting up on his own for lengthy periods of time and he’s beginning to push up from his tummy to his knees and hands. Just in the last two nights he’s made forward progress by moving his right knee and lunging toward a toy. It won’t be long before he puts his hands in motion with that action. Guess it’s time to officially childproof the house. (ie. cover the plugs, clear off the coffee tables, and gate the stairs.) He still loves walking around with assistance. Sometimes, he even let’s go with one hand and thinks he can keep himself supported. Guess he’s just testing our reflexes!!
He had his 6 month check-up on Monday. He weighed in at 20 pounds and was 28 inches long. (Guess he’s still on track to be tall like daddy.) Of course, this doctor’s visit brought shots. He thought the nurse was a new friend as she played and smiled with him, then the reality of the shots hit. While crying after the shots, the nurse tried to talk with him and he cried harder. Guess he wasn’t too fond of this new friend. The visit brought yet another ear infection and a new antibiotic for him. It’s very helpful that he seems to enjoy the medication. (He actually squeals with delight as he sees us preparing it.)
We also took many pictures this past weekend. Of course,we took the monthly progress picture with our “puppy” Graham, some pictures of Ben exploring his new car seat, and some action shots as well. Here are some sample pictures. Be sure to check out all of them on our photo gallery in the October folder.

Benjamin
I have officially started back to work. The first week of school is finished with many learning experiences for me!!! Learning how much sleep I really need, learning to trust others, and most of all knowing that God will not give me more than I can handle!! My employer has an on-site nursery for staff children only. So that has been very convenient. I take Ben to school with me every day, pick him up for 45 minutes at lunch, then return him to the nursery for the afternoon. What a blessing the nursery is!!!!
Ben’s first week of school went well. He still seems to adjust to new people well, always having something to jabber about when he greets them!! He slept through his first fire drill, has come down with his first cold (and serious cough), which led us to our first “sick” doctor’s visit. Exciting stuff for the little man!!!!
We returned to the doctor today for his Four month well visit. He is officially 17 lbs, 8 ounces, which puts him in the 90th percentile for weight. His length is 27″, which puts him in the 97th percentile for height. And has an average head circumference . . . only the 50th percentile. Guess there were no surprises there, since he’s been in 3-6 months clothes since the beginning of July. AND is outgrowing many of those clothes already. We’ve tried cereal 3 days in a row now and he seems to enjoy it! He is also able to successfully roll from his stomach to his back and his back to his stomach. I’m sure as he perfects his rolling and starts putting them together, he will use it as a mode of transportation!! So the month of August has officially been the month of many firsts for him.
